I am Marife de Martin 30 yrs old female from Philippines. I am suffering with final stage of Kidney Failure. In 1998 my eldest sister died with the same Chronic Renal Failure. My father was the lone earner for my family but now he is down with Stroke since July 2011. I need more than 200 USD every week to do the dialysis. I need another 23,700 USD to transplant kidney to save my life! Kindly read my story and help me. Thank you for visiting my page.
I am Marife de Martin 30 yrs old female from Davao City, Philippines. I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Two of my brothers were married they have one child each. I graduated last 2003 as a teacher and took the license exam and fortunately passed the board. I did't apply in any school here in Philippines because my wish was to apply any possible job abroad because of the fact that earnings abroad is much better when compare with the salary in Philippines. Then, 2008 I got an opportunity to go to another country and I grabbed it. I went to another country for job and I was very happy. But unfortunately things turned around I could not continue there due to illness and I had no other choices but back to home. I came back to my parents with paled skin and I couldn't even breath properly.
I was admitted in a hospital in Philippines in March 2009 and I was diagnosed with final stage of renal failure. Both of my kidneys were not functioning. That was a shocking news for me and my poor family. The doctors advised me to visit hospital two times a week for dialysis in order for me to survive. When I was not yet into this dialysis treatment all my body parts were swelling because of the accumulation of water; waste, and toxic substances in my body. It is a fact that when you have this kind of illness you will not able to secrete urine so water in the body will be stocked as toxins and that is very dangerous to our body system. Doctor advised me for dialysis since March 2009 and I was into dialysis twice a week, 8 times a month. Also sometimes almost every month I do the blood transfusion with an O+ group blood.
In 1998 our eldest sister died with the same Chronic Renal Failure. She was just 23 years old then. My parents were not able to bear her treatment expenses. It is too expensive and my father’s income was not sufficient to do her treatment. My sister told my father that Papa please transfer me to another better hospital. But father was helpless and he couldn't do anything as the expenses were too high. We just accepted what had happened because we couldn't do anything about that. Now, we are again facing the same situation in the form of my kidney failure. But still they are trying their best to save my life and that’s why I am still alive to write this blog.
I have been undergoing for dialysis for more than two years now. My parents spend almost all money in their hands. My father is an employee of a security agency. Although it's very hard for them but they are trying their best to extend my life through this treatment. My parents don’t want to lose their another child with the same illness again.

To rub salt into the wound my father got stroke July 2011 and half of the body paralyzed. My father was the only bread winner of the entire family. Although I have brothers and sisters they have their own families they are supporting. My father is 54 year old but he was working for us until he got the stroke. Now we are in great trouble because father is down with stroke. We depend mainly on his income every month especially for my treatment expenses. I don't know now what to do.
According to my doctor, the earliest I get the transplantation with a new kidney is better because if we do the dialysis for long time, the body organs become weak due to the strong and high amount of medicines.
I need a lot of money to do the transplantation surgery. I am even struggling to get the dialysis money. The cost of the transplantation in Philippines is about 1 Million Pesos (approx 23,700 USD)! My father is down with stroke and and no one in my family can meet this expenses. I humbly request you to donate some amount for my treatments.
